Professional Background:
Dr. Mabowa Makhomisane is a dedicated Primary Healthcare physician with a passion for diabetes care, cardiovascular research and communicable diseases . He graduated with a medical degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal: Nelson R. Mandela School of Medicine and later obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Diabetes from the University of South Wales, where he recently concluded his Master’s degree.
He manages a successful general practice specializing in diabetes care and HIV. He is an approved principal investigator by SAHPRA, actively overseeing various clinical trials. Dr. Makhomisane’s research interests have led him to contribute significantly to peer-reviewed journals and present at numerous local and international conferences.
As the Chairperson of LIPA and a member of multiple advisory boards in South Africa, he plays a vital role in shaping healthcare policies. He also serves as a current Executive Member of the Alliance of South African Independent Practitioners (ASAIPA), Director of the Gauteng General Practitioner Forum (GGPF), and Secretary General of the South African Viral Care Society(AVCS).
