Dr Gad Murenzi

Full Biography

Dr. Gad Murenzi (MD, MPH, MMed) is a clinical researcher and health systems leader with over a decade of experience in clinical research, fundraising, and capacity building. He has successfully secured independent research funding from the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) and has contributed significantly to advancing research in HIV, HPV-related cancers, and other non-communicable diseases.

Dr. Murenzi previously served as the Director of the Einstein-Rwanda Research and Capacity Building Program, where he led scientific research and training initiatives focused on HIV, HPV, and related comorbidities. His work has emphasized strengthening research systems and mentoring early-stage investigators and research teams to build sustainable local capacity.

His research interests include HIV, cancer—particularly HPV-related cancers—and other non-communicable diseases. He is deeply committed to mentoring emerging researchers and supporting the development of strong, collaborative research environments.

In addition to his academic and research roles, Dr. Murenzi serves as the Managing Director of Goodlife Ivuriro and is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Rwanda, where he continues to contribute to research, training, and healthcare innovation.
